Give Kids a Smile 2018
This year’s Give a Kid a Smile program turned out very well. We always love to see the smiles on the kids’ faces. This year we went to Fayette, Glasgow (public and St. Mary’s), and Higbee.
The kids were interested in the subjects that we discussed. We talked about how the acid in our drinks can cause damage to the enamel of the teeth. They learned that even diet drinks and some drinks that tell them they are healthy have acid in them. The kids learned to always read the ingredients on the label.
We also discussed how important it is to brush their teeth at night. This way all the food and drinks that have left debris on their teeth can be removed. Otherwise, it will “rot” on their teeth as they sleep.
We talked to the lower elementary kids about what to expect when they visit the dentist. And, we talked with the older elementary kids about oral cancer.
